The basic health insurance covers almost all dental care for children under 18. You don’t pay any excess. On this page, you’ll find more information about cover for the dentist, orthodontist and other dental care.
Up to the age of 18, we cover most treatments at the dentist. This is covered by the basic health insurance. For example, we cover costs for:
- Check-ups and advice
- Dental cleaning
- Fillings
- X-rays
- Anaesthesia
You don’t pay any excess or additional costs, and you don’t need supplementary insurance.
Braces are not always covered under the basic health insurance – only in exceptional cases. Do you have supplementary insurance? Then we may cover part of the costs for braces.

Sometimes you need our approval before receiving certain care. You request this approval by applying for authorisation.
