Dental care for children up to 18 years
The basic health insurance covers almost all dental care for children under 18. You don’t pay any excess. On this page, you’ll find more information about cover for the dentist, orthodontist and other dental care.
Dentist cover for children
Up to the age of 18, we cover most treatments at the dentist. This is covered by the basic health insurance. For example, we cover costs for:
- Check-ups and advice
- Dental cleaning
- Fillings
- X-rays
- Anaesthesia
You don’t pay any excess or additional costs, and you don’t need supplementary insurance.
Orthodontic cover
Braces are not covered under the basic health insurance – only in exceptional cases. Do you have supplementary insurance? Then we may cover part of the costs for braces.

Have you received an invoice? You can claim your healthcare costs quickly and easily online.
When do you need to request authorisation?
Sometimes you need our approval before receiving certain care. You request this approval by applying for authorisation.
